Not Yo’ Mama’s Banana Pudding (Paula Deen’s Recipe)

A delicious and rich take on the classic banana pudding, inspired by Paula Deen’s beloved recipe.

  • 1 box vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 package vanilla wafers
  • 1 pint heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the vanilla pudding mix and whole milk. Whisk until smooth and let sit for 5 minutes to thicken.
  2. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  3. Layer the bottom of a trifle dish with vanilla wafers, followed by a layer of sliced bananas.
  4. Spread half of the pudding mixture over the bananas, then add a layer of whipped cream.
  5. Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • For an extra touch, top with crushed vanilla wafers before serving.
  • This pudding can be made a day in advance for best results.
