Korean Braised Potatoes (Gamja Jorim) is a delightful comfort food that is easy to make and perfect for any meal.

  • 1 pound potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Peel and cut the potatoes into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a pot, combine the soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, water, and minced garlic. Stir to mix.
  3. Add the potatoes to the pot and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  4. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and cover the pot. Simmer for about 20 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.
  5. Remove the lid and increase the heat. Cook for an additional 5-10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.

Notes

  • This dish can be served hot or at room temperature.
  • For a spicy kick, add some chili flakes.
