  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, until bubbling.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk and continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, and paprika until smooth.
  5. Drain the macaroni and combine it with the cheese sauce. Mix well.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a crunchy topping, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top and bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.
