- 1 pound elbow macaroni
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 cups milk
- 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, until bubbling.
- Gradually whisk in the milk and continue to cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, and paprika until smooth.
- Drain the macaroni and combine it with the cheese sauce. Mix well.
