Churro Saltine Toffee: A Delightful Fusion of Sweet and Crunchy

  • 40 Saltine crackers
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange Saltine crackers in a single layer.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a boil.
  4. Pour the caramel mixture over the crackers evenly, spreading it out with a spatula.
  5. Bake for 5-7 minutes until bubbly.
  6. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  7. Let the chocolate melt for a minute, then spread it evenly over the toffee layer.
  8. Mix powdered sugar and cinnamon, and sprinkle over the melted chocolate.
  9. Chill in the refrigerator until set, then break into pieces.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the caramel mixture.
  • Store in an airtight container to keep fresh.
