  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.
  4. Add the vanilla and eggs to the butter mixture, beating well.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
  8. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, until edges are golden brown.
  9. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra chewy cookies, don’t overbake them.
  • You can substitute half of the chocolate chips for nuts if desired.
